PARCEL 39A CHARLESTOWN
STATUS: PROPOSAL

"A tribute to local maritime legacy"

The proposal introduces 39 rental housing units at the Charlestown Navy Yard, 5 of which will be priced between 80% and 100% AMI. The “Parcel 39A Residences” is meeting the growing demand for well-appointed rental housing both in Charlestown and Boston.

To complement the multifamily residential component of the proposed development, local amenities in the form of a Foodie’s Market as well as smaller retail storefronts are added. Community space, intended for use by local organizations—Courageous Sailing and The Freedom Trail—for administrative and educational programs will also be established at ground level. Through complementary programming, the project aims to introduce a development aimed at activating residential, pedestrian and economic activities in the Charlestown Navy Yard neighborhood.

An underground lot accommodates parking and bike storage for residents of the building’s 39 units. A pedestrian path through the building provides convenient and secure access for residents, and connects First Avenue to the Granite Walkway and YMCA to the north.
